PEAK CAMPUS NAMED ONE OF ATLANTA’S HEALTHIEST EMPLOYERS BY ATLANTA BUSINESS CHRONICLE
Feb 22, 2018
ATLANTA, GA (February 22nd, 2018) – Peak Campus, one of the nation’s leading student housing operators and developers, has recently announced it has been recognized by the Atlanta Business Chronicle as the 8th healthiest company in Atlanta within the large employer category (500-4,999 employees).
Each year, Atlanta Business Chronicle identifies those companies and corporations that demonstrate an above and beyond commitment to creating and incorporating healthy workplace programs within their organizations. The award is assessed by measuring wellness programming in six strategic categories: leadership commitment, foundational components, strategic planning, communication and marketing, programming, and interventions. Peak Campus was evaluated among 40 other companies, including Sprint, Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta, and Hewlett Packard Enterprises.
Peak Campus’ wellness program, Live Well, promotes a workplace culture of intentional wellbeing. Since its inception four years ago, the Live Well committee has overseen a consistently high rate of employee participation in its programming efforts, all of which have resulted in a lower health risk profile among Peak’s employees. Live Well begins each year with its annual “Peak’s Biggest Loser” contest, a 12-week program which motivates employees to adopt a healthier nutrition and exercise program. The focus is maintained through the summer months with a company-wide Move It to Win It Fitbit relay wherein associates team up to walk the most number of steps in a month-long competition.
To ensure that people are aware of their health risk profile, Peak Campus pays for all team members and their spouses to receive an annual biometric health screening. These screenings allow employees to pay a discounted premium based on their results, and Peak pays for personalized coaching sessions for employees to improve or sustain these results. All of these programming efforts minimize benefit costs, and as such, four of the past five years have seen flat or reduced costs in healthcare premiums.
“We are thrilled to be recognized again as one of the Healthiest Companies in Atlanta. We are committed to ensuring that wellness is an important part of our culture with a focus on engagement and overall experience with our benefits and wellness programs,” said Jennifer Hill, Chief People Officer and General Counsel at Peak Campus.
