The Healthiest Employer awards program recognizes organizations that are committed to creating a healthy workplace.  Peak Campus is one of a select group of companies in Atlanta being recognized for helping employees make significant and sometimes life-saving changes to improve their health. Peak Campus was recognized as the 8th finalist in the large employer category (500-4,999 employees).  The award utilizes an online assessment to measure wellness programming in six key categories: leadership commitment, foundational components, strategic planning, communication and marketing, programming and interventions, as well as reporting and analytics. 

Since its launch three years ago, Peak Campus’ wellness initiative – named “Live Well” – has offered employees flexible, health-focused programming. These efforts have had remarkably high participation rates and have accomplished tremendous success in moving participants to a lower health risk profile.  The focus on wellness keeps benefits costs down, as demonstrated by flat or reduced renewal rates three out of the last four years. 

Our Live Well committee, made up of Peak Campus executives and associates, is focused on educating and supporting our team members to help create a strong culture of health within Peak.  Live Well kicks off the year with our annual “Peak’s Biggest Loser” contest, a companywide competition that gives associates that extra push of motivation they need to create a healthier eating regimen and exercise lifestyle.  Each fall, Peak pays for associates and their spouses to receive a biometric screening.  Associates pay discounted premiums based on the results, and are eligible to receive free personalized wellness coaching sessions throughout the year to focus on improving results.  Peak also has an annual companywide FitBit competition, where associates are provided with FitBits and join teams to see who can walk the most steps to win exciting prizes.  Additionally, Peak promotes financial wellness, a major cause of health stress, with financial experts to provide sessions on financial planning, including creating a budget, showing how to get rid of debt, and saving techniques.

Peak Campus was an early adopter of the telemedicine component of wellness programs.  It is a component still going strong in Peak’s “Live Well” program — perhaps because the company pays for the service at no cost to its employees. Through the service, employees can email, call or video-conference with board-certified doctors 24 hours a day, seven days a week — a practice that has cut down on the amount of time staff members spend waiting in clinics or driving to specialists in another town or another state.
