Atlanta, GA – Peak Campus Development announced today that it has started construction on a 218 unit/660 bed apartment community in Columbia, SC within two blocks of the University of South Carolina (USC) main campus and adjacent to Columbia’s Five Points commercial/shopping/entertainment district.  The project is slated to open in August 2016.

“We’ve spent considerable time in the Columbia market looking at opportunities and this project has all of the right elements - an irreplaceable location within walking distance of the USC campus and next to Columbia’s primary commercial/entertainment district and a highly differentiated concept to serve the growing housing needs of one of the nation’s fastest growing universities.” said Jeff Githens, Senior Vice President, Peak Campus Development.

The project offers fifteen unique unit plans, including lofts, in a five-story residential building with two active courtyards.  All residential units will come fully furnished with high-end finishes, private bathrooms in every bedroom, walk-in closets, full-size washers and dryers, stainless steel appliances and granite countertops.  Most units will also contain their own private balcony.

Indoor amenities include a two-level multi-purpose room, business center, and a state-of-the art fitness center with rock climbing wall, yoga and spinning studios, and fitness on demand.  The project also provides ample structured parking and indoor/outdoor bike storage.

The building exteriors will be flanked by significant streetscape improvements along the Gervais and Harden Street corridors.  The active courtyards will contain a resort style pool, hot tub, fire pit, bocce ball, and ample seating and lounge areas.
